Infinitely Beta is a company built by a bunch of very passionate and driven people who are out here to change the world. We have a work culture that is fast paced, yet informal. We love building great products but at the same time we believe that behind every great product, lies great technology. Infinitely Beta is a company made of alpha grade technologists who care a lot about their tools and consider their work as an art form. We are constantly working on forwarding the state of the art and we don't hesitate in wielding powerful but relatively less known technology.

We believe in Functional Programming, Non-relational databases, JavaScript, HTML5 & CSS3. Besides our work, we are in general a group of fun-loving people who love watching movies, debating about deeply philosophical things and just hanging out with each other outside office hours. We are looking to recruit like-minded people who can assist us in achieving our goal of total world domination.

About You

Additionally, we have the following requirements for these specific roles:

New Graduate Software Engineer

Software Developers

  • In-depth knowledge of any one of Clojure, Common Lisp, Python, Javascript, Erlang, Haskell.
  • Some exposure to non-relational databases like MongoDB, Redis, Riak, etc.
  • Ability to think about problems the Functional way.
  • Some academic exposure to Computer Science (autodidacts are welcome!).
  • Deep insight into the inner workings of the Web with at least passing familiarity with ideas like REST, APIs, Graceful Degradation, Caching, Message Queues, Async IO, Web Sockets, etc.
  • Experience in using and administering *nix systems like GNU/Linux & Mac OS X.

System Operations Engineers

  • In-depth knowledge of running/managing UNIX-like operating systems (we use Ubuntu).
  • Good programming skills with focus on scripting (Python, Shell, Perl).
  • Decent knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, routing).
  • Knowledge of various FOSS tools for monitoring, graphing, capacity planning, logging, etc.
  • Some experience with automation tools like Puppet, Fabric, etc.
  • Some experience with Cloud Computing platforms like Google AppEngine, Amazon AWS, Heroku, etc.

UI / UX Engineers

  • Deep knowledge of CSS and HTML5.
  • Understanding of web-standards and the basic rules of building great user experiences.
  • Familiarity with mock-up, wireframing tools.
  • Some ability to make illustrations.
  • Knowledge of Typography.

General Notes

  • We don't care if you went to an Ivy League college, so don't try to show off.
  • We care a lot about Free and Open Source Software so if you are contributor, do let us know.
  • We all are hard-core Emacs users. (If you are not using Emacs already, be ready to face humiliation or switch ;)
  • We generally frown upon people who have only worked for services companies, because to us a cultural fit is much more important than a technology fit.
